This following story shows Naija women are not the only victims of rape. “Men of God” are as vulnerable as anyone else.

Two men of God were over the weekend allegedly lured to patronise harlots at a popular brothel at Cable Point, Asaba, the Delta State capital, when they went there to preach to the ladies of easy virtue.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the pastors from a very popular church along Ibusa Road in the state had visited the area to convert and win over the sex workers to their church, but they were themselves seduced by the prostitutes who had sex with them and later burnt their Bibles and clothes.

Sources said the men of God (their names withheld) had resolved in one of their meetings to win many converts, especially the prostitutes who stay in brothels, in order for them to grow their church's membership.

Cable Point is a notorious stop-over for hoodlums and has the largest number of brothels and casinos in the south-south region.

An eyewitness said that preachers had gained audience with the harlots but after a period of time they were disoriented by the sudden display of breasts and other revealing body parts which reportedly hypnotized the preachers. Their hosts then took them into their rooms where they were said to have performed 'quickies.'

LEADERSHIP learnt that fight broke out when the evangelists regained their composure and insisted on not paying the harlots' bills, arguing that that was not their original mission. During the scuffle, they ladies reportedly burnt the pastors' Bibles and clothes”.

Nigerians have been eating 15 year-old rice imported from Asia

Many Nigerians have suddenly realized they've been eating rice that is as old as 15 years. As bad as this may sound, many may not care, as long as they know the rice was imported. To others, including myself, it's the failure of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), to do their job. These organizations have failed us and will continue to do so if the current and future administrations continue to dance to the tune of big corporations including Dangote, the major food importer in Nigeria. Food and Drug safety in Nigeria are just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to the major issues affecting the nation.

The most important steps the president needs to focus on right now is getting the right people in the right place to tackle these issues. Get rid of those who are not performing to expectation. Those who do should be rewarded. Our future depends on what we can do today. We need to put politics aside, at this very critical moment in our history. Nigeria has just turned 51 years. Nothing much to show. Isn't it time we turned things around? The way things have been done for the past 51 years is nothing we should be proud of, if we were to be honest with ourselves. The roads are worse and mostly impassable. Most people still live without basic amenities. Crime and greed spread like cancer in both public and private sectors of the economy.

While the nation as a whole is facing a very steep hill, a good place to start being honest with ourselves. There needs to be a total overhaul of the way things have been done in the past 51 years. Bribery must be stopped and anyone caught in the act should be disciplined and his or her name be made public.

Hiring especially in the government section should be done openly and be based on merits and not on who you know.
